Organizing Tips

Here are a few of the many organizing tips that you can learn through An Extra Hand Organizing ...

  • Create a pre-printed shopping list with all of your typical items on it, in the order you find them in the supermarket.  Hang it in the kitchen and circle items as you run out. Check your inventory before you leave for the store. Shopping with a list ensures that you get everything you need, and helps prevent buying things you already have.

  • Use and reuse fabric shopping bags.  Once empty, hang them on the door knob so that you remember to put them back in the car.  Also use and recyle gift bags to reduce wasted paper, ribbons etc.  For more tips on green living, visit this link .

  • Create a communication center for making and receiving phone calls, with a place to sit, a writing surface,  notes pads, pens or pencils, your address book, and within easy reach of your calendar.

  • Towels

  • No time for reading?  Stash your unread magazine, articles, print outs and such in a tote bag in your car.  That way, you'll have something to read if you are stuck in traffic, in the waiting room, or when picking up the kids from school or soccer practice.

  • Practise wise shopping, and help your children learn this valuable skill,  by buying only what you need, and think about the long term impact of what you purchase.  The Story of Stuff is a great way to learn about the cycle of your purchases.  Watch the movie.
